It’s Spring!

It’s the beginning of an exciting spring here at Shayna Meadows. In contrast to this time last year, when I was lamenting how long it was taking to get things up to full speed, now I am greeting clients daily and watching my herd of now five horses bring hope and healing to the folks that work with them. The addition of Al, or affectionately “Big Al”, to our herd has provided the opportunity for some clients to tap more strongly into their personal power by learning how to get this giant horse to move his feet for them. Al is also a great lesson horse, and although I am not a certified riding instructor, I have a fair amount of experience teaching beginners and Al is just the man for the job!

The Middle School Afterschool Horse Program is in full swing and to date 9 kids have been out learning how to groom and lead the horses. We are all enjoying that and are excited that it continues for another several weeks.

We have had our first yoga practice here, taught by Joanna Yates, and there is interest in having a regular class. And while a traditional yoga class does not involve the horses, it is another avenue to personal growth and wellness that is at the heart of our mission here at Shayna Meadows.

So stay tuned this spring as we plan to offer up more exciting wellness opportunities!
